Everything Is Better With You

First Impressions

“Who is this curly-haired, goofy girl who can’t catch a ball?”— Joseph

“We made each other cry during the first therapy role play in our program. After that, I thought we would either be awkward around each other forever, or we could be friends.” — Sarah

Sarah and Joseph met as first year students in the clinical psychology doctoral program at the University of Indianapolis. They spent many hours studying diagnostic criteria, filming mock therapy sessions, and throwing stress balls at each other. As soon as they concluded their first semester of will-they-won’t-they tension, Joseph took Sarah on their first date at the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields. One year later, they returned to Newfields, where, on a balcony overlooking the city, Joseph asked Sarah to be his wife. They look forward to completing their story in July by marrying in the beautiful gardens on the Newfields campus.

And the rest is history

Sarah and Joseph live in the Broad Ripple neighborhood of Indy with their two beloved cats, Francis Dorian & Owen James. They can usually be found procrastinating on their dissertations by walking the Monon Trail, grabbing a beer at Sun King Brewery, or drinking coffee at Hubbard & Cravens. They can’t wait to officially marry, become licensed psychologists, and most importantly, start a family!
